THE CYPRUS THIRD AGE (C3A) is a self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operative for those who are no longer in full time work.
Established in 2003 as U3A Cyprus, and gaining registration in 2008 as the Cyprus Third Age Association (C3A), we draw members from across the Island.
Our local C3A branches are learning co-operatives that share educational, creative and leisure activities provided by their own members. The teachers learn and the learners teach.
The C3A approach to learning is – learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained.
Between them, C3A members offer all the chance to study different subjects in such fields as art, languages, music, history, archaeology, computing, archery, sailing and photography. There is also a breakfast club and other social groups that meet on a regular basis.
At the present time we have a Branch operating out of Limassol. Each Branch pays a small capitation fee to the C3A coordinating body, and has access to a vast range of resources including access to the U3A resources, including special interest newsletters and contacts with U3As in other countries.
Most importantly, each Branch has absolute autonomy over the way it manages its operation and organises its local finances.
