FutureLearn – A private company wholly owned by The Open University, with the benefit of over 40 years of their experience in distance learning and online education. It offers learning for life through more than 100 free courses in English.

FutureLearn partners include more than 20 of the best UK and international universities, as well as institutions with a huge archive of cultural and educational material, including the British Council, the British Library, and the British Museum.

coursera – An American-based education platform that partners with top universities and organizations worldwide, to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free.

It envisions a future where everyone has access to a world-class education and aims to empower people with education that will improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the communities in which they live.

At the time of writing, coursera offers more than 600 courses through more than 600 global partners such as universities, colleges, educational trusts and museums in 13 different languages.

C3A members are currently engaged in a number of online courses run by both organisations ranging from archaeology to community journalism.
