THE CYPRUS THIRD AGE (C3A) ASSOCIATION is a self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operative for those who are no longer in full time work and is part of a global network of many thousands of U3As.
Established in 2003 and gaining registration as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) with the Interior Ministry in 2009 as the Cyprus Third Age (C3A) Association, we draw members from across the Island.
Our C3A groups are learning co-operatives that share educational, creative and leisure activities provided by their own members. The teachers learn and the learners teach.
The C3A approach to learning is – learning for pleasure. There is no accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be gained.
C3A offers its members the chance to join groups in subjects in such subjects such as archaeology, environment, music, gardening and photography. A breakfast group and other social groups meet on a regular basis.
Group Leaders
The C3A would not function without Group Leaders who coordinate the activities of their activity/interest groups. They are not expected to be experts in the field but share their life experiences, hobbies and interests with other members. Group Leaders are ordinary C3A members who give something back to the Association.
C3A Committee
The C3A Committee is elected annually by members at the C3A Annual General Meeting. The Committee comprises three officers – a Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer – plus a number of other members to assist in the smooth running of the Association.
All Committee members are ordinary members of the C3A who have volunteered to help the Association prosper. (Volunteerism is the the corner stone of the C3A and U3A’s around the globe).
Legal standing
The C3A Association is registered with the Cyprus Interior Ministry (Registration no. 3246).
